The Cape Henry Covenant with God: Our Beginning and Continuing Hope
The Charter which authorized the English colony in America clearly specified that one of the primary purposes for the colony was the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Prior to their sailing up the James River to Jamestown, the English settlers first landed at Cape Henry near the mouth of Hampton Roads. There they gave truth to that purp0se when they planted a cross on the beach and dedicated the new land to God as a missionary platform. Because of this covenant commitment, God blessed us as a people and a nation.
Nevertheless, over the years we have gradually moved away from our part of the covenant. God has not moved away from it but we have. In fact, we have claimed the blessings of God as our own doing. Even the Christian Church in America has celebrated and preached the blessings rather than the One who blesses.
How have we broken the covenant? In many ways. Under the Emmancipation Oak in August 2006, God called a group of intercessors together to confess specific corporate sins of America. Some of them He revealed to us a head of time and others He did not reveal until the day of prayer. We realized we were confessing the sins of our ancestors, but we also realized that these sins were also our own because we have perpetuated them in one form or another. (A list of what God directed us to pray may be found here.)
Where do we go from here? We need you and your church or ministry to pray in agreement a prayer of repentance for the nation as God directs you. Your prayers are needed. Your commitment is also needed to prayer walk in your area, taking authority over the powers and principalities that are holing this nation and its people captive. If you are an intercessor then God has given you the authortity. We nust understand our history and God's call on our nation. And we must pray for deliverance and we must prophecy over our land as God directs. If we do He will heal our land and our people. He has promised. We need you to boldly claim the promise we us. We stand at the ready to asist you and we need your input as well.
